Four days down: For those who don’t know, I’m sharing my experiences during a 21-day food detox. If you’d like to start reading from Day 1 to get the full scoop, click here.
This post is inspired by Jonna (thanks, Jonna!), who commented on Day 3 that going without coffee during a detox would be a challenge. I totally get it. My love for coffee is right up there with love for my family. Seriously. (Is that sad?) It’s always the first thing I look forward to in the morning. So, the no coffee thing is a big bummer. Today I wasn’t feeling tea, I wanted something richer (like coffee with half and half!!). Since that option is off the table right now I decided to try and recreate the comforting experience using almond milk. I added some spices and coconut oil and whirred it up in my Magic Bullet. It was warm, creamy, spicy and really frothy. I have to say, it almost hit the same spot as a glorious, rich cup of coffee. The coconut oil made a rich foam and the spices created a taste very similar to a Chai latte. So, I don’t know if we can technically call this a latte since there’s no coffee or tea in it but I couldn’t think of a better name. The super easy recipe is below—let me know if you like it! I should note that if you are detoxing, stevia or xylitol are the sweetener options for you.
Overall, a good day, with no major symptoms to report. I’ve been running on low sleep lately so I plan to go to bed early tonight and recharge a bit.
Wins: All good food choices today and really enjoyed the almond milk latte this morning. I’ll look forward to making that tomorrow as well.
Flubs: No exercise…AGAIN. Grrrr….
